The Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) Awareness Training course is
designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills required
to recognize, evaluate, and respond to the presence of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in the workplace. H₂S is a highly toxic and flammable gas
commonly encountered in oil and gas operations, wastewater treatment, mining,
and other industrial settings. This course emphasizes hazard identification,
risk mitigation, and safe work practices to protect personnel from potential
exposure.
Participants will gain an understanding of
the physical and chemical properties of H₂S, the health effects of exposure,
detection methods, and appropriate emergency response procedures, including
escape and rescue. The training aligns with international best practices and
regulatory requirements, such as those from OSHA, NIOSH, and API.
Course Duration
4–6 hours (1 Day)
Entry
Requirements
Basic
understanding of workplace safety practices.
Ability to
read and comprehend English.
No prior
knowledge of H₂S is required (however, prior HSE knowledge is an advantage).

awareness of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow
effective emergency response, evacuation, and first aid procedures for H₂S
exposure.
Comply
with relevant industry safety regulations and standards.
Learning
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course,
participants will be able to:
Explain
what hydrogen sulfide is and where it may be found.
Describe
the symptoms and health risks of H₂S exposure at various concentrations.

signage and alarms related to H₂S environments.
Respond
appropriately to an H₂S emergency, including initiating evacuation and first
response protocols.
Operate
H₂S monitors and PPE such as air-supplied respirators.
Participate
safely in operations in environments where H₂S may be present.
